About the Cause

SunnyKids

This year we are excited to have SunnyKids on board as a charity partners of the Sunshine Coast Celebrity Golf Classic.

SunnyKids provides a social and emotional safety net for thousands of children and their families in Queensland.

The SunnyKids Virtual Village practice model guides their framework, providing wrap-around support services to vulnerable children and their families. They actively work within schools and early education settings, providing creative and innovative solutions for children experiencing adversity.

SunnyKids partner with health and education service providers to link children and their families with the care they need in order to get back on their feet. The SunnyKids in Schools programs are designed for children who may exhibit social or emotional barriers to education. SunnyKids also extend their services to the child’s family to provide ‘wrap-around’ support. They link schools, families and service support systems to ensure a practical and needs based response is given to issues faced by families.

SunnyKids also provide over 8000 nights of emergency accommodation to vulnerable adults and children each year and offer domestic violence an referral counselling to local families in need.

Early intervention is essential to break the cycle of violence. SunnyKids continues to advocate for women and children to keep them safe.

Broncos Sunshine Coast Community Development Program

This year we are pleased to, once again, be supporting the Broncos Sunshine Coast Community Development Program to help build brighter futures!

The Brisbane Broncos strongly believe that sport and sporting organisations can have a significant and positive impact on young people’s lives by driving programs that build better communities not just better athletes. Rugby League has emerged as a powerful tool in the delivery of life skill and mentoring initiatives for young people, with some very positive statistics being achieved.

The Broncos Sunshine Coast Community Development Program runs many programs not related to Rugby League, including the ‘Smarter Choices’ programs. These programs encourage students to be active, healthy people both mentally and physically as well as dealing with some of life’s biggest setbacks and distractions. Programs are delivered in and out the classroom during sessions with the Development Officer aimed directly at students in both primary and secondary school. It offers a unique opportunity to students, regardless of gender, to gain valuable insight into making appropriate decisions when it comes to health, lifestyle and social issues within today’s society. This community-based initiative was formulated to encourage all youth - both boys and girls of the Sunshine Coast region to foster healthy lifestyle choices and as they transition from primary to secondary and secondary to their adult lives.
